Based in Salt Lake City, with his wife, two screaming infant children, and their family business, Ryan actually never goes anywhere. When he does get out, Ryan likes to make it look like he has it made by wasting much time behind a camera.
Self taught, somehow, Ryan's photos have appeared in Climbing, Rock and Ice, Urbanclimber,and Utah's City Weekly magazines - as well as - in advertisements and/or catalogues for La Sportiva, Snowbird Ski Resort, Asana Packworks, Optic Nerve, S7, Revolution, Bitter Sweet, and the Front gym.

With seventeen years of experience working in various production positions (grip, lighting, props, set decoration and design)on feature, television, magazine, advertising, rock video, still and motion pictures in Hollywood, California, and on location in places as diverse as the Caribbean and Hawaii or New York City and New Orleans - it's amazing Ryan has any interest in photography left at all.

Ryan has been quoted as saying:

"Working for successful fashion and celebrity photographers like David La Chapelle, Peggy Sirota, and Matthew Rolston has done absolutely nothing to help me become an action photographer".

However, Ryan was probably exaggerating their lack of influence.
